Town of Hamilton/Madison County
Recently named "one of the friendliest towns in America" by Forbes Magazine, Hamilton's vibrant and quaint downtown area surrounds the Village Green with casual dining restaurants, cafes, specialty shops, movie theater, performing arts center, a natural health food store, Madison County's first micro-brewery, a yoga/pilates studio, the historic Colgate Inn and the Colgate University Bookstore. Recreation abounds in the area including approximately nine miles of Village-maintained trails along the former Ontario and Western Railroad right-of-way and the original Chenango Canal towpath. The Village also supports Seven Oaks Golf Course, an award-winning Robert Trent Jones course, hiking trails, waterways and breathtaking cycling and running routes.

Antiquing
Take an old-school cruise down the U.S. Route 20 Scenic Byway and pull into a few of the unique shops that dot the roadside. A throwback to the pre-interstates days of American travel, this historic path crosses right through the heart of Central NY. Route 20 is also home to the Madison-Bouckville Antique Weeks (June & August), the largest event of its kind in NY State. With more than 2,000 dealers descending on Madison County each August, it would be a challenge for any antique enthusiast not to leave town with a treasure. Many Antique shops are open year round.
Seven Oaks Golf Course
Colgate University is the proud owner of "Seven Oaks Golf Club", named after the ancestral home of the Colgate family. The flawless 18-hole course, designed by Robert Trent Jones, has garnered accolades from Golfweek, The Golf Channel, and Golf Magazine. Seven Oaks Golf Club measures 6834 yards from the longest tees. The course features 5 sets of tees for different skill levels. In 2016, Seven Oaks was ranked #7 Best Golf Courses in New York by Golf Advisor.
